Change the File Attribute for System Folders (Windows 95/98/Me/NT/2000) Category: Home > Windows > File System
Windows Explorer normally uses the Read-Only attribute to determine whether a folder is customized. This may cause file saving problems with some programs and not allow you to remove the attribute. This tweak allows you to force Windows to use the alternate System attribute. Open your registry and find the key below. Create a new DWORD value, or modify the existing value called 'UseSystemForSystemFolders' using the settings below. Exit your registry, you may need to restart or log out of Windows for the change to take effect.
Disclaimer: Modifying the registry can cause serious problems that may require you to reinstall your operating system. We cannot guarantee that problems resulting from modifications to the registry can be solved. Use the information provided at your own risk.
